Bumper removal

It makes me think it's had some sort of front end damage but it wasn't written off as I have done vehicle checks which come back clear.

Sounds like you need a new front panel/lock carrier buddy. Possibly had a small front end damage which wasn't recorded on insurance so it wouldn't show up on checks unless written off. I work as a body fitter in a bodyshop so get involved in these sorts of things all the time  :wink:

As long as you have the crash bar on there it should be fine to drive and it's not safety related

I will just log back into parts link and see if I can get a rough price for you

I know the wing was slightly damaged along with headlight, driver side. And the bonnet has a slight dip in it. But that amount of damaged wouldn't cause anything like that?? I see why they sold it now. Pissed off.

So from what I have found from my chassis number 2005 gti

Part number 1k0805588s

And price on parts link which I believe we use for tps is £230.76

From the damage you described I wouldn't have thought so but it depended where it was hit and how hard buddy

They are about £60 on eBay for non genuine.

If you do it yourself don't go for a non genuine 1 as they can sometimes be a pain in the arse

100% you need the front panel/ lock carrier if that bit is missing. Like I say don't get a non gen 1 unless you have time to mess about with it making it fit

Why is it called a lock carrier? Is this all one piece then? And I can't bolt the bit missing back on?

I will still try and get a pic with bumper off to see if anything else is wrong or missing?
