Pads for VWR 6 Pots
« on: December 22, 2015, 10:56:34 pm »
Can anyone advise which type of pad I need to order for the VWR 6 pot calipers?

Also, can anyone advise if it's possible to swap the brake lines around on these calipers to create an even pad wear? If I recall the pad wears uneven due to the larger piston biting first. This is present on the existing pads with a thinning effect to the first biting point.

I'd like to avoid this in future by flipping the calipers. I recall this from a thread a while back where VWR refused to acknowledge this was an issue. I think.

Don't buy them. There are better alternatives. AP racing.  :happy2:

They were cheap. Already got them. By cheap you are talking £750 with the rear 2 piece discs.

Congrats on your purchase Luke. There are better options out there at the RRP, but as you paid a low price I think you got a good deal. Yes, people have identified issues with the smaller piston orientation. Just check your calipers and reverse if necessary.

The pads are an AP type shape of **** part number. Pads for these **** calipers will fit. There are numerous options available.

Probably a better reply.

But why the f*** did he run them 'backwards' and if they were sold as a mk5/6 kit why were they sold assembled incorrectly?

I don't know if they were I haven't had chance to look. I am asking if they can be swapped. I recalled the thread, but it's ok. I went and found it for myself.

That is cheap!!

If Pagid still make the RS15 material, I loved that in my old AP setup.  That's going back a good 5 or 6 years now, so bigger and better things might be available now but it was a mental pad for sure.   Could really feel the tyres being tortured and wicked pedal feel.   Soft pad though, and high metallic content, so your wheel lacquer will get eaten away.

Had to cut one of the pipes off. Was seized in. Brake spanner was rounding it. Had to use a hex socket. VWR don't want to know as they don't supply them any more. So need a new set of pipes and new bleed nipples.

Calipers are all stripped down and cleaned now.
