Well after many hours of reading about head units & weighing up between a kenwood dnx & a pioneer I finally went for another erisin:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/271950719109
This one has a larger screen but is still the latest 4.4.4 android os.
Full review soon! :happy2:

I installed my 7900 today and all seems fine but the buttons don't light up. Am I doing something wrong?

Further to the above. Does this also not have album function with iPod?

Got it from eBay,
for what its worth, I prefer eBay over directly buying from site.
They can avoid you directly, eBay they cant, and if they do. You can open a case against them and eBay will step in and make decisions.
So that gives me piece of mind.

yup. plug and play for me.
just had to get a different harness to get the leds to work on the HU. Which they provided, however id say, ask this before hand so you dont have to wait for the new one. They didnt charge me anything for it.

Hope this helps

I think you skimmed passed this post of mine.
I did mention that a different harness is needed to get the LED's to work. As the one you got with the HU didnt have a cable for illumination, which is needed for the lights to work. Ask the seller for it, and once you have it, you'll have to piggy back of an illumination cable of another circuit. i.e. cig/climate (its the grey wire)

Well I had an hour to waste while my little one was at rainbows, sooo, figured I'd risk whacking in the radio!
Took my new removal tools & my torx bits with me along with the radio & sat there in the car park looking pretty dodgy I must say!!
Lol!
Removed old radio, then came up a few minor problems, where to put the GPS puck in the mk5?
How to route the usb cable for the iPod/iPhone?
& finally the connection for the dual fakra seemed to only let one in there, couldn't squeeze them both in the HU port?
Anyway, put it all back for now to test & get these questions answered,
BUT.
I am VERY impressed so far, it's exceeding my expectations totally, really impressed.

1) GPS puck can go anywhere you want(bare in mind reception) (I'd recommend the glove box or underneath the dash tray)
2) Where are you wanting the iPhone cable to run to?
3) I didnt have a fakra so I only used one, working fine so far.

Hope it helps

Am I missing something the android one doesn't support iPod?

Edit. When I asked a seller about iPod they said. Just looking again and they have iPod.

Bigjim which one did you get and does display albums and playlists on the head unit?

I've put the puck under the tray for now, I'll tape it there tomorrow.
I want to run the usb socket cable to the glove box, then connect from the socket to my iPhone 6/5s (just for charging, will use Spotify for music mainly).
Radio needs both fakras imo, sounds poo! Need some type of adapter?
