Must apologise but family stuff is taking over my weekend!!
So timingbelt & co will be for next weekend…
In the mean time I got to sneak out today and had some chain timing check
done…

Phase position bank 1 is -2*

What do you guys think?! Should I change it also or leave it??

It’s been a couple of weeks now since the cambelt & co
have been changed… everything is allright, engine runs like a kitten :jumpmove:
And here are some shots…

Was a big job but very satisfying😁
The only trouble was the enginemount in the block…
That is the whorst piece of automotive engeniering!! to get out!!😓
But in the end it came out… just stayed calm and thought it over…😁
After instaling everything back, a 034 Motorsport enginemount came in.
Next up are the thermostats and the gearboxmount. Will do them in the next following weekends…
So will be continued here

Definitely - juggling the cover and mount is not the best

Yes! You’re right! It’s actually not the enginebracket but the bolt from the timingbelt
Cover!! That little piece of s**t is hard to reach!! It’s on blind sight and feel to get a bit on to it!! Once it’s loose… it’s party :jumpmove: remove the cover first then
rise the engine completely up!!! And then at last whigle the bracket out… :jumpmove:

Maybe a tip : when putting it all back together… I used the old roller to tighten the belt and check timing. Then I removed it and marked the belt… whigled the bracket and cover back into place. Then I put the new roller on (tightend it to 25Nm).
Tightend the timingcover bolts (7 of them to 8Nm) and then the enginebracket. I think it was 3 x 45Nm for the bolts.
The rest was all simple 😁

@Pudding: thanks for the info :happy2:
I was having doubts … should I change it or not… but I bought the whole set so I’ll change it anyway

Some other question!
Is it nessecery to upgrade / change the master brake cylinder when upgrading to 6 pot Z18 brake calipers?! Some do it, Some not

It depends what your brake pedal feels like after you've installed them.  Some people fit the TT-RS master cylinder with brakes that big, which makes sense to me.

Hi everybody

It was time to get back in the garage…

I thought it would be a 3 - 4 hour job… boy was I WRONG!!

So next step was to change both themostats and temp sensors…
In the whole process I also changed the aircon compressor, DSG gearbox mount from 034 Motorsports (Density) and put in a new Varta battery.
The hole taking appart went fairly smooth until I came across the 5mm triple square which holds the coolant line that goes to the big themostat on the engine block  :slap  that was a real nightmare to get loose/off 😡 but in the end it surrenderd!
In the whole changing out proces I forgot to take some pics
In the end I got to change all of that stuff :jumpmove: BUT!!! It took a whopping 10 hours to do all that!!!
Also a wake up call to reality for me… I AM NOT 20 years anymore!!! My
Body is a wreck today😵
But anyway a couple of pics show the stuff I did…

Yeah - why on earth the decided to use those 5mm triple square bolts, they are really annoying.
I suppose they do get used in a few more places on the top end of the engine.

When I changed my thermostat it was something like a 7 hour slog in the rain - I can only dream of a subterranean workshop/lair like yours!
Despite studying the pelican parts guide, I also had to dremel a groove in one of mine after thinking it was a torq.
Can't believe how rust free everything is on yours too!

@LC5F thanks man :happy2:
I can believe that working outside is even harder! :notworthy: respect to all!

Why everything is rust free ... well it stood still for nearly 2 years! Changed work and didn't had time to fit all the parts I collected...
Example : the exhaust, I bought that in 2016! And a lot of other parts...
I bought the Edition 30 in 2015  with 38.000 km and was all back into VW  Bought & collected lots of parts but never got to fit it!! A bit of it I mounted but lots of it was still waiting on the shelve to be put on...
End of 2017 it changed all, new work, new house (Croatia) and not more me time! So that's why the Edition 30 is (rust free)
