Reverse camera in bumper
« on: December 22, 2015, 07:55:10 pm »
Ok so I know that the official reverse camera for the mk5 and eos is the badge model, but has anyone fitted the number plate light style?
If so what's the viewing image like? Is it too low to the ground?

i'm using instead of number plate light. View is very good and helps rear parking at night very much. Image quality would say is same as OEM( maybe depends which one you buy).

I've fitted scirrocco one, it's not on the centre, but for me is fine in all ways.

I had them on my first mk5, well aftermarket ones - they tend to get broken lenses due to the proximity to the ground, the LED's fade, the camera itself creates a shadow on your number plate and finally, some screw into thin air so you need something behind it such as a plastic window frame spacer so when you screw in the camera it goes into the plastic & squeezes down into the bumper to lock it in place.

It's been over three years since I had one, I guess they have improved. For a couple of hours work once a year, I put up with their shortcomings with them being so cheap and effective once fitted.

OEM ones are probably great.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Has anyone got a link &/or some pics of these bumper cameras fitted? There are so many on eBay it's a mine field knowing what to buy!!
I'm after a number plate one to fit an android head unit.
