EGR cooler leaking
« on: January 05, 2016, 09:38:06 am »
Can anyone recommend somewhere in Scotland for EGR valve and cooler removal.
I've got a slow leak in the cooler and thinking best just to get rid if possible.
This is on my mk5 gt170 if that makes a difference..?

Just buy an egr delete and egr cooler delete, darkside sell them. im sure you can get the egr delete elsewhere but not sure about the egr cooler.

How was the leak diagnosed, can you visibly see a leak?

Yeah, I had a pressure test done and there was a tiny leak from the cooler itself when there was about 1.5 bar going through. I've had to top up coolant twice in the last 500 miles or so...

Had a look on darkside, and looks like a good idea. Don't really fancy tackling this one myself without a garage though.

In case you do decide to do it this is an excellent guide http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,72241.0.html

The egr cooler delete is one of the best mods you can do
