Just seen your k04 comment mate. I reckon you should just bite the bullet and fit a k04 while it's all in bits. You know you're going to want a k04 soon after going 2+ on the k03!
yeah you're most likely right about that but I'm going to need to source another K04 so going to wait a while tbh.

I know, but the S3 IC would be the ideal IC for a K03 stage 2+... You'll get lag that I bet you won't like much... :signLOL:
Got to agree with this, assuming it's in addition to your OEM cooler, @r5gtt ?
An OEM replacement like a Peron or Airtec Stage 2 you could probably run without any detrimental pressure drop. But on a k03, two coolers, and all that volume to fill, it's got to be pushing it a bit. There's only so much air a k03 can move.

Actually that's got me thinking laterally about a way round this. Could you get rid of the OEM cooler and reroute the pipework so that you're just running this front mount? Assuming this on its own would do a comparable job to an S3 cooler on its own, albeit in different locations.

Moving it in front of the rad in itself should see benefit in terms of heat exchange. But there must be some logic in VW designing the layout as they have.
I was never going to use two coolers buddy  :surprised: my minds set to fit the FMIC stand alone and get the car mapped to st2+ and then get another K04 and then fit that in when the warmer days come along. Seriously shouldn't have sold that K04  don't think I'll find one in as good a condition as that one.
Moving it to the front will definitely help with lowering temps and hopefully with the power I'll be running it'll not give me any lag but pre map I'll be lagging all over the place
Ahhh, I get you. I was thinking this was along the lines of a Twintercooler - retaining the OEM cooler.

So it's essentially a Wellycooler?

You'll be fine with that then. Maybe a tiny bit of pressure drop but it shouldn't be enough to cause any really noticeable lag.

yeah I wouldn't have thought it would as many gti owners are or have fitted them to st2 + cars so can't be a bad thing.

I can't believe you thought I'd be doubling it up with my oem one :signLOL:

I never read threads properly!

Make sure you do a little write up of the fitting. I might follow suit if there's not too much 'custom fabrication' involved...

Read the flipping thread  the write up part will be a pain as it's a lengthy fabrication process when doing out on the road so to speak  :sad1:
Will see what happens in any case.

Wow! Never seen the front panel removed to do that job

Wouldn't it have been easier and more beneficial to remove the inlet manifold and have done the valves therefore achieving 3 jobs  :P

I removed it to replace the broken front panel dude

Let me tell you that it's a beech to replace this and to take the inlet off it's another pain in the ass.

:signLOL:  In fairness he is getting everything ready. And then selling all the hardware. And then getting it ready again

It'll be May before he gets seen to at r-tech as well, 100 pages by then.
