AUX connection fitted to 07 RCD300 & not working? Help!
« on: May 21, 2015, 01:11:45 pm »
Hi all,
only just joined this site today so new to this forum posting etc.

I have just fitted a aux connection port into the back of my RCD300 stereo (2007 mk5) and have a small port fitted next to my ESP button near gear stick. I was under the impression it was a plug&play kinda of device. Ive read a couple of other forums which said double click the CD button and that didn't work. Am i missing something obvious here or do i need to reprogram my stereo?
link below is to the item i bought through ebay.

any info or tips would be great

thanks

As I understand it, in addition to the plug for back of Head unit you need some electronics to "fool" head unit into thinking a multi CD changer is connected
I bought one of these and works fine with my RCD 300.

Hi,

I am looking to fit the same AUX port that Sam mentioned. I had a few questions I was hoping you could help me with?

Firstly, next to the ESP button on my golf I just have two blank "buttons" there, were you able to remove them and replace them with AUX port?

Secondly, did the box that you were recommend to fit by the Flyingscotsman work along with the AUX port or did this replace that item?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm meeting a guy off eBay tonight who has VCDS to activate the AUX-IN port,  for a similar (non fool it into thinking it has a CD changer) cable,  will post results regardless of outcome...

That's what I removed from my car as the CD changer didn't work and this was plugged in its place.

If you have the silver button RCD300 (doesn't have to be MP3), there is a designated 'Aux-In' mode. This is different from the devices that fool the unit into thinking a CD changer is connected.

If you have an iPod connection or CD changer, the wiring is very easy to change over.
