Forge short shift kit
« on: January 11, 2016, 07:22:00 pm »
So, I'm looking at purchasing the Forge Short Shift kit, but I'm slightly confused about exactly what is needed.
Now I think ... the go to items to buy are as follows:

http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk5/forge-adjustable-quick-shifter-for-vag-6-speed-models
http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk5/42-draft-vw-shifter-bushing-kit-mk5-6s-my07
Plus AKS Bracket Bushes?

Can anyone confirm if I'm right on the above please?

Also, the Forge quick shifter I linked above, is that the one that is front to back and side to side?

The one you linked is the front to back throw, you need this also for the side to side

Just double check you get the right 42 draft bushes as there's a couple of different variants.

Yes, get on to Alex and he will sort you bushes, i have all of the above and it really does improve the throw, i have it as short as it can go and love the feel  :driver:

Many thanks! I've seen a few people say they only have the front to back option, and have just left the side to side as standard. Is there any particular reason for this? Or just down to personal preference?

Yes, I saw this also before I did mine, lots off comments on how it's not needed etc. don't know how they can comment when they haven't tried it....think more to convince themselves than anything, I've done both and can highly recommend  :happy2:

Swear that video doesn't really look any different to the standard side throw :/

Might just get the front to back to be honest. Cheaper as well.
