Does anyone know what these are called?

I keep getting told there are 'spats' but to me thats normally something along the lines of plastic wheel arches not an addition to the front bumper

:happy2:

canards, fins, splitters, spats... is one of these the definitive answer?

i asked VW, but the phone went quiet while he hummed his way though the parts computer and then said "i'd ask on the internet or google it sir"

yay VW

Never knowingly noticed those ever before VC!

Are you planning on smoothing them out or something?

if the bodyshop ever give me my prototype splitter back i need to have a second mold made so i can alter it to fit the GTI. but the gti doesnt have these 'thingies' so i need to know what they are called so i can buy a pair to glue to the inside of the splitter and create a second splitter that will fit the gti which doesnt have them

the current splitter is designed to cover over them on the r32

WIKI:

In aeronautics, canard (French for duck) is an airframe configuration of fixed- wing aircraft in which the horizontal stabilizer is ahead of the main wing

I'd still say canard, although in this case I think it's asthetics rather than for purpose - just to tie in with the skirts.
Sideways yo!

as they are just a "bump" in the mold of the R32 front bumper, you cannot buy them seperatly, you need the complete front bumper to get them  :jumping:

Splitters according to OSIR.

http://homepage.mac.com/risowu/OSIR/SPHYRNAR32.htm

just a thin shell to 3m ontop of the bump on the bumper, it's not a part that replaces the original ones.
copied from the osir link "Carbon add-on corner spliters for MKV R32"

I have bought and fitted my own R32 front bumper and it is NOT a part on it's own.  :rolleye:
