Tuning "mature" GTI

My 08 plate GTI has done over 140k but I got lucky because it was a company car in a previous life with stack of company paid for receipts for repairs / fixes that I imagine most private owners wouldn't bother with... 

So it feels in better condition than the milage would imply *touching wood*. Colleague who "knows about cars" was advising me against a light tune (bluefin) as it would stress the old girl given her milage...  Is there any truth in this if it's been well looked after with all service milestones; cam belt etc done by VW main dealers?

Would go for a better map from somewhere like Rtech or Revo. As long as the car has been looked after the mileage shouldn't be a cause for concern.

If you are after a bluefin though i have one for sale in the for sale section for £50.  You will have to spend £225 getting it reset but it will still save you a good £75.

Because of the high reset cost this just isn't viable, you may as well pay the extra £15 and get a bespoke map from RTech.

He will save a good few pennies, so it is worth it.

R-TECH map would be better though, as i agreed with wash.

Bluefin will give you less power than RTech, which based on your post may not be a bad idea. Also with bluefin you can take it back off yourself if you wasn't to sell the car on. I ran bluefin all the way to stage 3(now on Revo), it's ok, not the most power but self installable which appeals to some. It's def slightly less powerful than the likes of RTech, Revo, APR at all stages of tune, but for what you want might be ideal.

Bluefin is bad for your car as it is known to be spikey on the boost which will stress everything more than a smooth custom map. Also with R-tech you can have switchable maps so you can have a standard map and then a remap and just change between them by holding the brake and pressing the accelerator (I believe) they do up to 5 maps.
