'06 Reflex Silver GTI
« on: April 23, 2017, 09:39:57 pm »
Evening all. I am new to the mk5 scene, have previously had mk2's, mk3's and Bora's previously

Always wanted a mk5 gti and my circumstances have lined up to get one. Bought off a forum member Nik recently

Spec as follows:-
2006 5 door DSG model
18" Monzas
Heated cloth interior
Cruise
Rear parking sensors
Folding mirrors

Its a well specced car that has a decent service history with it

Have already tackled the exhaust tips, other tasks to do are change rear light clusters, get the headlights polished up and give the car a good clean

Comments welcome

Cheers guys, the wheels aren't perfect up close and will need a refurb at some point but don't clean up too badly

Did a couple of jobs today. The car had an old school factory fit nokia hands free kit which had never been removed. Rather than put up with holes in the dash i picked up a second hand glovebox complete off ebay for £8.50, bargain! Used the excellent pelican parts how-to's

Heres before pic:-

Pretty easy job to removed the old one, transfer over the latch, trim, lights etc and refit.

After:-

Second job on the list was to swap over the rear light clusters. The originals were showing their age and had a crazing effect i think from machine car washer:-

Had picked some off from a low mileage car which were perfect, pretty easy job to swap

After:-

^Nice work with the glove box. I still have the phone holder on mine and I hate it. Was thinking of somehow converting it to hold a smart phone but if it's an easy job I'll prob do what you did and replace it with a second hand one  :)

Was surprisingly easy to do the swap, 8 T20's. I picked up a complete glovebox off ebay for £8.50 delivered, nuts! Just had to swap over the latch and trim etc.

Looks much better and my passengers won't bang their legs into a phone holder now haha

Heres some pics after giving our other car (aka the bus) a clean :-)

Anyone looking for a proper seven seater look no further, we looked at everything else on the market and nothing came close to the comfort and space of the sharan. Its a 2.0 tdi DSG model, only mods are tinted windows from B pillar back
