Overall value is less though. It's the cabin materials and design that depreciates the Leon. The new generation is much better now.

now that it's all sorted that it's going to be fixed maybe there's a lesson to be had :-)
less of the black ice excuses and slow down a bit in cold and slippy conditions especially with new suspension and (i'm assuming) no alignment done :-)

you have to be a proper hooligan to deactive the esp on the road and feel it would have saved your bacon. but hey ho that's done.

I've learned my lesson.

I was still thinking i was driving my old 4WD scoob.

Two new goodyears going on the rear when i get it back, alignment done and if the garage has not already done so, checking of the suspension will be done.

I shall save my heavy right foot for dry conditions, where, i'm afraid, ESP will still be fully off...;)

Might i suggest you save the road for safe journeys and book some trackdays if you want to push your limits.

I bought a GTI to have a bit of fun, not to be driving miss daisy.  I shall just make sure i don't drive like a tit in bad conditions.

I do actually plan on a few track days too, just not in the winter.  Castle coombe that i have been around many times is only about 10 miles away from my gaff.

I really want to do silverstone though, as that is one track i have never been around.

you are fully entitled to drive how you like of course. but just consider other road users. the road is not a race track and as i said you have to be a proper tosser on the road to be activating the ESP systems. just keep them on. doesn't make you lewis hamilton driving around like a bellend on the a417.

Depends on the conditions, a greasy road won't take much to activate the system... In the dry though you'd have to be really trying I think.  Down to tyres too of course.

1) you fitted some upgraded suspension (presumably because you now has a racecar)
2) you went out for a drive in wet, cold conditions and deactivated the ESP because "if you don't trigger the esp you're not trying hard enough"
3) you were "powering out of a corner" and the back end came out (simply doesn't happen unless you are on a trailing throttle or lift off mid corner)
4) you initially blamed oil / black ice or a fitting error (not your own fault , obviously)
5) throughout the thread you make comments to driving fast / aggressively / without much regard for public safety or speed limits.

Next time you break the speed limit, think again about the post above.
