See this listing this morning, could tell it wasn't a eddy from a mile of but easier to spot for an already in the market do thought best warn anyone looking.

Have had a email conversation with the seller who I have informed it isn't an eddy but dispite point out the several factors why it's not he has proceeded to advertise it, and also reduced the price by £1k

You see this thing all the time when I was looking for a mk5 gti there was a few saying they were a ed30 but weren't at all, people who are not in the know will think no different and believe they are buying a limited numbered car. Not just ed30s either I've seen this with a number of different cars.

All he needed to say was it has 'edition 30 looks' - not hard. Nice looking car nonetheless, he must have spent good money to make it look like that.

Yeah thing is it was a nice GTI with edition 30 interior that was a bonus but he wouldn't look at it that way! Was just concerned as many people would see the interior and think it was legit.

He properly thought it was a legit ed30 when he bought it and paid over the odds for it

I remember seeing a diesel faked as an Edition 30 at my local dealer once.  Why, just why??!  It's like putting an M3 badge on a 320d!

There was an 04 mk5 in the car park at work earlier, low spec, maybe even an SDI, horribly modified, with an R badge on the front. A bloody R badge.

The only people that thing is kidding are the idiots that believe it and the owner themselves.
