Checking the CAM BUS Gateway version
« on: January 27, 2016, 10:40:33 am »
Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help me…

Ive just purchased an RCD 510 DAB radio but I have read about potential battery drain after installation. My car is a 2007 GTI so I want to check the CAM BUS Gateway to see what version it is as I've heard I need a version ‘K’ or newer.

My question is do you have to remove the CAM BUS Gateway module to read the version or can you see from it in situ? If I do have to take it out can I remove it and put it back straight after i've read it? Or is this going to cause problems!

The other option I suppose is to install the RCD 510, then waiting and see if I get battery drain…And if I do buy a newer CAM BUS Gateway module and get it coded through VCDS.

Sorry to be naive, this is all new to me!

Thanks!
