Nearest rolling road for a custom remap? Surrey area?
« on: January 28, 2016, 11:12:09 am »
Just wondered if anyone can recommend a tuning company with a rolling road to get a custom map on my mk5?
Only mods will be a pre cat delete,&  panel filter.
Will it need a custom remap or will a generic one do?
I have eurospec near me but they can only do a generic, but will do a rolling road test.
Thoughts?

VRT in Slough do remaps but I don't know if they have access to a rolling road. Give them a call http://vrtonline.co.uk/

Travel to Hinkley for an R-Tech map. It really will be worth it.

Really? I have looked it up, 2hour journey there, 1.5 hours back  :happy2:

I'm reading up on local places but can't seem to get anywhere.

I second r tech, the drive isn't that bad stall  :happy2: VRT don't have a rolling road but are a really good bunch of guys and did say to me that their maps are custom and not a generic map and they do it while driving around or something

Depends weather the journey is an issue to you but if you can id try get a custom map to make the most of the precat delete.

Looks like I can't really argue with that!
So it looks worth the drive for a custom rolling road map, even with just a pre cat delete, & panel filter!
One question is, if there is a problem found, ie DV on diagnostics are they in stock there?

They do keep them in stock but check it yourself or run it into a garage to check the dv etc. I changed mine just for piece of mind and it only cost me about £40 for the part. Pcv checks on youtube and guides on here are easy . Just make sure you fill up with shell v power.   :happy2:

Really?
Been arguing with my missus about this, she wants nectar points so she puts in BP super, I'm a tight git so I use Tesco momentum, (we both always use super) so is the shell recommended by r tech?

MRC tuning (Audi tuning gurus) highly recommend tesco momentum, over shell v-power. If tesco 99 is good enough for them to be putting in 900hp RS6's then it's good enough for anything else I reckon!

BP is only 97 RON

Cool!
 :jumpmove:
I win, I usually fill it up anyway! So no doubt it'll have a load of momentum in it before it's taken for a map.

Exactly this. My local specialist actually now offers live maps on their rolling road. Seem to be getting some good results and even have an offer on. You want the best though and if always be wondering if it could have been better. For this reason I'm making the near 300 mile trip on Saturday. Let's face it though, if we didn't like driving, we'd be on the wrong forum ☺

Super!
Look forward to seeing how you get on, let us know!

I've sent an email to R Tech, (is it Niki?) asking for a slot & telling him my needs
