stage3+
« on: January 30, 2016, 10:44:40 pm »
Hi new to the forum, put a deposit down on a mk5 apr stage 3+ today supposedly running 480bhp and 465lb torque,  loads of reciepts for work done  but no real proof of bhp as dyno graphs were inconclusive, going to pick it up next saturday so long as it all checks out, the guy i'm buying it of is going to get Matt at VWR and someone from apr to phone me,to confirm all work was done by them as some invoices were missing for some of the major work ie , cnc head from apr and lower block work from apr, with these mods listed would it make the power its claimed to be, SPEC OF ENGINE , brand new CNC machined head from APR including  reconditioned engine block and lower end from APR, miltek turbo back exhaust, APR exhaust manifold,  APR fsi injectors,  APR low pressure fsi fuel pump, APR  high pressure fuel pump, APR intake manifold runner flap delete, APR intercooler, APRcamshafts ,APR cast exhaust downturn and downpipe,  Garrett gt2871r turbocharger, APR STAGE 3 air intake, Wossner pistons,  APR connecting rods, VWR clutch,  VWR limited slip, VWR short shift ,VWR big brake kit, wide bell 6 pots, VWR streetsport coilovers, and loads of other handling bits, been in to modified mini's for close on ten years running beetween 270 and 290 bhp, and have got to say this GOLF was in a different leauge, but just thought theese turbos were only good for 400 max so just a few concerns about the claim on bhp and torque,

Seems odd with the amount he spent to achieve big bhp there isn't conclusive evidence by way of the mapping which must have been done ?, non of that hardware will work without a good map, so quite why that is missing sounds very odd. Maybe it didn't make the power and makes much less hence he's not sharing the plots ?. I would say you want to put it on the rollers use to check it runs safety etc before you handover the cash. If it all checks out, happy days. Something doesn't add up though. Apr etc calling you just means the HW was sold to him, doesn't mean it's still on the car now, maybe he removed some bits and turned the power down etc. Awesome GTI are Apr dealer, get them to give it a look over and check on the rollers

A phone call is no good, when you sell it on are you going to ask him to ring up potential buyers ? I cannot think of any reason why you would not dyno a car after all that work to get it to stage 3

The older 2871 is good for 400 on the TFSi.  Can see 450 with the GTX2867.

Imo that Golf is way overpriced.

I'd buy myself an Audi RS for that money  :stupid:

Get him to get copies of the receipts from where he had the work done as I'm sure they've got a record of it all?. :popcornsoda:

PMSL

That's a tonne of money and any car with that much work should definitely have dyno graphs, I can show you exactly how much mine is running and the boost plots etc.... So something like this should have a literal tonne of paperwork to prove it is what he says it is.

Sorry to burst your bubble but none of us want to see you get stung for that much money and end up with a lemon  :drinking:

wow! thats a sh*t ton of money for a mk5. Is it a Ed 30 or a Pirelli even?
Id be inclined to head towards an Audi RS as R5GTT says.

Got to agree. It's too much. And where's the fun in buying a car that's already tuned up to the hilt? If it's even what it says it is.
