Fuse Slot for Dash Cam
« on: February 01, 2016, 07:55:48 am »
Anyone installed a dash cam in their GTi and can tell me what slot in the fuse box was used for a switched live? I've had mine in the house for 10months and need to get the finger out and get it installed.

I just got a voltmeter and checked which one was giving out 12v on ignition and used that.

What dash cam have you got?

Nice choice

I bought the mini dash cam 0826 and its been ok. On one occasion it froze and another time it kept on stop recording and re recording every 12 seconds. Ive updated the firmware since then and it seems to be ok now.

It's a donkey's old model I got second hand. I have a Transcend unit to go in the wife's A6 too.

They vary between models and years. You shouldn't really go guessing.
You can physically see a free slot, they will have one terminal in place. You just won't know if its switched or constant live.
Multimeter's are cheap from maplins, CPC, eBay etc and worthwhile if you're going to be doing any electrical work on your car.

Ok. I'll see if any GTi owners can assist.

Look in your handbook. It's not too hard to work out which is a switched live
