Rough idea on price for mk5 gti
« on: February 04, 2016, 03:26:28 am »
Hello hello hello!

Gonna be selling my s3 in a few months as me and my girlfriend want a house. I want to go back to another mk5 gti. I've been looking at them on eBay etc and the prices are all over! Some sellers want ridiculously high prices for them at the moment, what is going on? Lol

Just after some opions on what I should be paying as I feel like I'd be paying over the odds if I were to buy now.

I ideally want:

5dr
Dsg
Highline clocks
Mileage below 100k

Leather and xenons would be nice but it's not a must for me

I bought mine a couple of months ago from a small trade seller. was advertised at £4995 and is grey 5 door, manual, heated leather, arm rest and 18's. just over 100k but had just had about a grand spent on it on maintenance. I also found loads that seemed similar spec/ milage for silly money. Hope this helps!

Dont buy on mileage - buy on condition and maintenance

Mine has now done 175k now and is perfect, bought on 168k

Spec is
3 Door
2008
Candy White
Xenons
Highline
Heated Wingback GTI seats
MFSW
18 Monzas
RNS510
FSH 1 Owner and Not Cat C/D
No mods

All for the princley sum of £3750

Just because of the mileage!
There are some bargains out there!

I'm not buying on mileage for reliability reasons. I no there more than capable of major miles of well looked after. I semi rebuilt a tfsi engine last year and there was Practically no wear on anything after 100k.

I'm looking at mileage for future re-sale. I'd happily buy one that's covered 150k+ if it was at the right price

I'd even consider a cat D one at the right money if the repair was up to standard.

I saw a 56 black 5dr advertised the other day. 90,000 miles, with near all factory extras such as xenons, high line clocks, sunroof, puddle lights etc etc and he wanted £7500 for it on a private sale! It didn't look immaculate and didn't have an amazing service history. I'd expect a car dealer to be asking that price. Seemed well over priced to me.

I also want a standard car with no mods ideally

That's definitely overpriced.

I paid over the odds last year purely as good ones were hard to find here. Bought from VW, 67k, cam belt done as part of purchase for 7200. That included their warranty (which our of interest you can extend around 300 per year)

That doesn't sound to bad to be honest. You will always pay more from the main dealer. What year is yours?

That sounds decent. I sold mine around September last year.

05 plate black 3dr on 98k with 18" Monza's, cloth interior & front armrest plus the usual factory spec. Eibach springs, fully pollybushed, hel brake lines, decat + cat back exhaust, typhoon intake, stage 2 map.

Also had a new clutch + flywheel kit
Cambelt and water pump
Major service and valve decoke
Stacks of history

For £4000

It was pretty mint apart from the rear bumper and it had 10 owners!

Missed it since that's another reason why I want another

Black 3dr
70,000 miles
58 plate registered Feb 09 (facelift)
3 owners including me
2 keys
6 Audi stamps, 1 independent garage stamp

Booked in at Audi Stockport at the end of the month for oil & filter service and haldex service

Just passed mot last week with no advisories

6 speed Manual gearbox
Heated leather
Factory rnse satnav with Bose speakers
Cruise control
Auto xenon lights with drl's
Aux input
Glove box iPod dock
Original 18" wheels

Mods:
Full milltek exhaust (decat down pipe with resonated cat back)
Forge twin take with huge itg foam filters Inplace of forge carbon cans
Gfb diverter valve
Rs3 front brake conversion with genuine disks & backing plates
R8 style red coil packs
Running stage 2 Apr software producing 351bhp
Auto tech pump internals (unfited)

I've changed the oil myself a few times and have the invoices
It's also had 4 new original injectors
Intake valves decoked
Recent iridium spark plugs
4 recent tyres
New mintex rear disks and pads

Mapping was carried out at awesome gti. They were really impressed with how well the car performs.

It was completely original when I bought it and I still have all the original parts to go with it.

It looks like a completely standard car externally but it's a real wolf in Sheeps clothing.

Not had a think about price yet. I'll have look around and a think and let you no if your interested?

down side is the manual gearbox. I don't know if I can go back to a manual after seeing how good dsg's are. But if the price is right why not :)

I've always had manual that's why I bought this but I now fancy a dsg mk5 when this goes. I love it, it's a lot nicer inside than a mk5, certainly feels a lot more refined but I need to free up some cash to get a deposit for a house.

I may even consider selling this and then get another on finance just so I've free'd up cash and still have a lovely car.

I Had a look online and the prices of them are all over at the moment. I would price it around 13k right now but I'd like a bit more really that's why I was looking to wait a couple of months as car prices usually go slightly higher in summer.

There's some cheaper ones around for about 11k but there either higher miles, cat D/C or have small defects or just don't look right if you no what I mean.

I payed 14.5k for this not too long ago and have spent money on it too but where it matters.
I was going to return it to standard and then sell it and sell the extras.

Hmmmm argghh dunno what to do lol

I'll speak to a few car dealer mates of mine next week and get back to you if your genuinely interested?

Also what mk5 are you selling? Cheers
