Car Tail happy after fitting Eibach Sportlines.
« on: February 07, 2016, 02:17:14 pm »
Hey all.

As most on here probably know i had a bit of an off a month ago and have now got the car back.

I was driving at very low speeds yesterday around a small roundabout the the back end nearly stepped out again.  It was wet but i was at such low speeds i really would not expect to loose any traction.

Has anyone had any issues like this after fitting eibach sportline springs on standard dampers?

I was also told that this could be due to part worn pirellis on the rear but i did not have this issue before fitting the sportlines.

In fact, after having them fitted the car handled fine, but now the back end is f*cking dangerous and i'm having to take it easy on all roundabouts.

Are these cars just notorious for being a bit tail happy in the wet even at low speeds?

I'm just trying to ascertain if i should fork out the £160 for some new goodyears on the rear or investigate suspension issues.

All of the tracking was done about 4 days ago.

Would it be worth taking it to a local garage for them to inspect? - what can they actually check?

TIA.

Have sportlines on mine with standard shocks (have done 174K) and is absolutley planted
No tail happy roundabout issues whatsoever
Have you checked your tyres pressures and tracking?

Mine was so much better with the Eibach springs fitted

These cars aren't tail happy at all. To get mine to lose the back end I'd have to really try and unsettle the rear, lift off and turn in violently. If I'm pushing it out of a roundabout it just grips, and the first thing to go would be the front. But that's never happened as I'd have to be driving like a loon to even get it to understeer.

I'm on 30mm H&R springs, MPSS all round, full Hunter geo in the last year.

Something aint right with your car mate.

:(

I'm off to a trusted garage tomorrow for them to check it over and have some pirellis fitted.

Fingers crossed.

Just had a look at the paperwork they gave me and no i do not.

I might get them to do the tracking again tomorrow.

This has only started happening since the sportlines went on, so bizarre.  I recon the springs have been fitted wrongly.

When you say tracking, is it a proper 4 wheel alignment, on a decent machine like a Hunter?

There's a world of difference between the sort of thing some garages call tracking, and a full setup with the right kit by someone who knows what they're doing.

Mines a nightmare in the wet, the back end stepped out doing 40mph in 6th gear round a bend. It's a 4motion too

What tyres are you rolling with as I used to have that issue with my 4wd?

These cars do not easily step out on the rear ... If anything it should understeer in the wet rather than oversteer.

So I'd definitely say something is wrong ... Was it a garage who fitted your springs or yourself/friends?
