Definitely worth getting the pre-cat knocked out. It's proven to work, maybe not to the extent of an all singing and dancing turbo-back exhaust, but for the cost of getting it done it's a no-brainer.

Anything to free up some flow after the turbo is a good thing.

That's exceptional for a bone stock stage 1. You sure the last owner didn't leave an uprated pump in there and forget to mention it..?!

On average, cars with the pre cat delete make better torque, for longer, with stage 1. It's as much about the area under the curve as it is peak figures. Wonder what yours would have made with a pre-cat delete...

Great result for stock hardware that though.

So daves with pre cat delete and ramair made 257bhp and 306ftlb

Mine completely stock made 254bhp and 332ftlb

Haha and no one likes a saw loser  to be honest, I wasn't showing off - just questioning the proof that induction and pre-cat delete will yield more power. As AJP has said, perhaps mine is a one off. I've seen more cars that are stock that have yielded more power then mine

Mine with pre-cat delete and panel filter made 268bhp and 334lbft with just the addition of a BCS cat back at stage 1 with R-TECH.

I had a bluefin fitted previous and on the same setup that run 242 and 266.

Just for some comparisons.
Steel Grey 2006 Mk5 GTI - R-TECH Stage 1 (268bhp/334ftlb) - BCS Cat Back - Pre-Cat Delete - Carbonio Panel Filter - Rev G DV - 18" BBS CH - Leather - RNS510 - Colour Coded Bumpers and Skirts - ED30 Front Splitter - Eibach Sportlines - Open Fog Grilles - Wind Deflectors.

All booked in for a months time
Was thinking about getting a pipercross panel filter but seen http://www.pipercross.net/pipercross-performance-induction-system-pk322_p24037922.htm too.
I want to keep the engine cover so wondered if you get much extra performance to make the extra £60 worth it?

That is a total utter waste of time and money!

Either get a drop in panel filter for less than £30, or get  a proper intake

Great news that you got it booked, you won't regret it.

As said above, wouldn't bother with that kit. A drop in one will be fine.

Okey doke point taken.
Which filter have you seen for less than £30 Dan, are they all pretty much the same?
Think I've read somewhere on here not to oil it as it messes up something or other?
