Thinking about getting an Rtec stage 1 done.

To be Honest even though I've only had the car for 3 months and love it in bog standard form, having read some threads on here it's got me thinking of having it done spring/summer time.
Got loads of questions about this but just a couple for now....
I've read that there seems to be 40-50 HP more but how do you feel the difference in driving terms?
Is it just at the higher revs you notice it or does it pull better at lower revs too?
Also is it worth/necessary getting the DSG box done as well, what difference should I expect?
I read on the other threads about getting a couple of bits on the engine checked beforehand so no doubt I'll be asking about that later on too. :laugh:

 But please make sure the car is in good condition. Some just want power but don't even maintain their car properly.

Yep. I often wonder how I got by on a standard map. Only problem is, once you've been on Stage 1 for a bit you get used to the power, and want more and more. It never ends!

So true. But I can't justify spending another 2k or more on a 10 year old car to squeeze more power out of it. That's why I'm selling and moving on. Plus I can't imagine a stage 3 would be good on a fwd the stage 1 is the max for a fwd and even with that soo much wheel spin goes crazy when you try a nice launch from the lights.

The trick is to avoid launching the **** out of it at the lights and enjoy the torque in 3rd and 4th on the roll. And for me, there's plenty in that respect that can be improved from Stage 1. Mine peaks at 296lb/ft quite early, but then drops off quickly due to stock hardware. This will soon change..

lol ye thanks I know how to go off the lights without the wheel spin. Even in 3rd gear you get some spin at least on the dsg cant comment for the manual. Either way well worth the £290 I paid for stage 1 I don't know how much it goes for these days. Good luck.

Defo get it done..I'm only stage 1 with 310bhp and don't want any more power and it's been a few months since the map and I'm used to it now. There are 5 selectable maps with the rtech one I have so you can change the power/curve based on the conditions on the road. Any more than 300bhp in a fwd car is a waste imo unless you start going down the LSD route or 4wd.

Feels masively faster, more responsive and also you get free traction control mapping from R-Tech (and switchable mapping as said above).

Ok, so I'm useless too, so I paid to have it done. Can't remember the cost but I know Alex at AKS charges about £100 for it. Definitely worth doing.

I planned mine for ages and finally had it done at the end of last month. The car is fantastic. Same advice as @Peskyjones , dsg remap not required.

With precat delete and a Ramair CAI, I was pushing 210bhp and 236ft/lb torque. After map, I was at 257 and 306. Power is so much more usable now and Sport mode in ocular is transformed, with power now available higher up the rev range.

The lads are fantastic as well!

Just a thought... Dynodaze next to r-tech may be able to do the precat for you before map if you time it right?
