r-tech stage 1+ ecu and r-tech dsg stage 1 gearbox
« on: February 11, 2016, 04:48:37 pm »
So question has anyone got a r-tech stage 1+ done? how much should I be looking to spend on the r-tech site it states:
Stage 1+= Stock car with just cats removed  hpfp upgrade & air filter upgrade
Stage 1+ tuning aim is to unlock the mid-range torque band which is limited by the stock pump at stage1
Stage 1+ custom remap           255-260 hp        335-350 lbft
Custom Stage 2 &  2+ TFSI (I think this is for 1+ too) = £350 (any thing with decat or sports cat added or HPFP)
VAG DSG  Gearbox mapping = £250 but when if carried out at same time as the engine tuning the price will be £150

How much should I be looking to spend in total and would r-tech do the pre-cat removal for me because so far to date I haven't been able to find a garage which will do this.

1+ means you'll have an uprated fuel pump, and that'll be the biggest outlay. Loba and APR seem to be the preferred options - I think you're talking 500 notes.

Standard map price at R-Tech is £290, not sure if 1+ would be more.

Best giving Niki a ring.

Thanks for the advice though I've tried calling like 10 times today all different hours and even sent a email no response.

remap £290
dsg remap £150
hpfp £500
air filter £50?
and I need a precat removal which I don't know how much they will charge.

so really 2 things I'd like to know
1. can I take it as car is now in stock internals with stage 1 and get rest of the work done there like removing precat getting hpfp installed and air filter
2. how much total will that cost

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if they'd do the hardware, from memory they don't have a ramp, just a dyno. (Don't quote me though!)

Was it your thread where the place next door was mentioned, Dynodaze? That's probably your best bet, they're a good bunch and I was chatting with them for a while with Ben from R-Tech when I was down in the summer. They're all pretty pally between them so I'm sure you can sort something out.

The 1+ should work wonders by the way, especially with you being DSG you wouldn't have to worry about clutches. Lots of positive feedback on uprated pumps. Pre cat delete or better still a bigger downpipe with sport cat or decat will complement it nicely. Not sure if there's much to be gained with a panel filter so you could stick with oem there and save a few quid. The jury is out on whether they're beneficial at all over the standard filter.

Where abouts are you based? There must be a decent specialist near you that can fit the pump and sort the pre cat. There's no problem running the car with the hardware upgrades until you get the map. Niki will just get the best out of it all.

Nope never heard of dynodaze.

I'm from North East London so I've got plenty of good garages to carry out the work before I get there but the main issue is I can't find any garage that is willing to do a precat delete. I have tried to explain to them that its not the main cat and there will be no issues with mot or emissions etc but guess they are just ignorant. Ben told me last year when I got the stage 1 that I should have it removed but no luck with garages around here.

Just a thought then, AKS (very highly regarded specialist) is in Bedfordshire, on route to Hinckley from London.

Speak to vRSAlex on here, he'll definitely be able to do the pre cat and pump, and no doubt sort you out the best possible price on the pump.

If you can somehow sort it into one trip it'd make sense.

Otherwise, Dynodaze are bang next door to R-Tech, so again it's just a case of co-ordinating the two if they can indeed do the hardware for you.

You tried ringing round any custom exhaust places in London? Doubt they'd shy away from doing the pre cat.

R-tech only do remaps in the unit, not hardware (except helping to fix boost pipes, PCV & DV - they will do this on the day if they find a fault).

Dyno daze is next door, and well recommended for intercooler hard pipes, inlet valve cleaning, exhaust fitting etc. . .

Remap should be your last mod; do pre-cat etc before you go to R-Tech. Leave them a voicemail with your phone number and they will get back to you.
