Upgrading the stereo
« on: February 11, 2016, 06:13:43 pm »
Hi Guys,

I've bought an RCD510 and an MDI kit.

I will be upgrading from the RCD300 and 6 cd changer. Will I just be able to swap the units over? i.e. the mdi kit in the armrest? Will it be plug and play?

Also is there an upgrade guide somewhere?

Thanks,
Faz

the stereo itself is plug and play.  depending what year your car is you may have to upgrade the CAN gateway to avoid battery drain issues.

Thanks, I was more concerned about the MDI being plug and play. I've been assured the RCD510 won't cause battery drain as its an older model so hopefully that should be me safe :)
