After Market Heated Seat Kit
« on: February 15, 2016, 11:21:03 am »
Morning all!!

I've wanted heated seats in the golf since I bought it but I can't justify spending what it costs so get OEM ones. So I had a look through eBay and saw these heated carbon pads you slip under the seat fabric which look pretty good!!

So firstly I'm wondering if anyone has these fitted?

And secondly how easy is to take the fabric off the foam on GTI tartan seats. I know I'll take be about a day but I just don't want to do it if there's a big risk of tearing the fabric!

Cheers, Dan

By the time you've faffed around it would be no more expensive to buy heated seats and sell your standard ones.
The loom is about £60 and fairly easy to fit if you actually do it properly (it's a LHD loom so needs wires extending)
Dash panel is about £50 (again sell your old one).

That's all well and good if I had £1000 to lay out for a new set of seats, yes I know I could sell mine after to make some of the money back, but I still need to have the cash in the first place.

Not only that but a set of decent seats are like rocking horse sh*t!

So £30 for a heated seat kit seems like the best option for me to be honest.

I'm sure heated GTI seats come up quite often.
They are like £400 last time I looked.
sell your non heated for £300.
Result.

£30 for a heated seat option plus £200 to have the seats disassembled by a cheapish trimmer, whatever other bits you need to wire up the heated seat, presumably non-OEM connections.
up to you what you want to do but i know what i'd do :)

If I see a decent set in the mean time I'll buy them like, but the last set I saw for sale were around the £800 mark.

I'll take them apart myself as long as they're not too difficult to strip, I've stripped other seats before but not volkswagen. And the wiring is not a problem either.

Like I say I just want to know if the kits work okay and any tips for taking the fabric off :)
