New thermostat, car not accelerating how it did
« on: February 14, 2016, 07:30:36 pm »
Hello

I had my main thermostat changed about 3/4 weeks ago as it was not getting up to temperature. The temperature is now fine but the car is not driving how it did prior to the new thermostat. At first it was a bit more sprightly as it was getting up to temp but now it doesn't seem to be accelerating like it used to in 3rd gear. It has a map on it and has done for a couple of years, it does accelerate in 3rd but not how it did previously. Any ideas?

Thanks

Maybe they disconnected your car battery when they worked on your car and the remap has been deleted from ECU?

The map will not be deleted. It's only revo maps that revert back to default settings but even in that case the map is still there but specific optimizations need to be reinstated.
Have you logged the car for any faults

Could be the inlet manifold is leaking or the induction pipes leading to it. To do the stat they will likely have removed quite a bit from the front of the engine

It has an AMD map so that shouldn't have been wiped. I haven't had it scanned as yet as I need to find someone in Essex to do it.

I'll check the inlets at the weekend but will also call the garage and tell them it's just not right and see what they say.
