Rcd150 aux lead

Iv brought an aux lead from ebay for my studio and I fitted it and turned aux on but it will not work. Iv got the ipod dock in the centre arm rest can that be the problem?  To be clear the lead in brought is the one that plugs in the back and looks like a factory button that u flip u the plug a lead in. Thanks for any help.
