Anyone used AMD for cambelt change?
« on: February 19, 2016, 11:42:00 am »
Thanks to richtung on other thread AMD have come out at least £100 cheaper than other places more local to me so it looks like it's a done deal unless people have had a bad cambelt experience with them?

Not a bad cambelt experience, but on my RS they changed the clutch and left the subframe bolts not properly torqued up. They also fitted KW coilovers and left the dampers all on different settings. Both bits of work were done a couple of years ago by the last owner of the car.

Way back probably 10 years ago, on my Mk4 Golf GTi, they fitted a milltek exhaust but it was fitted really close to the underbody of the car so that it'd touch when it heated up (the bend in the exhaust meant the exhaust moved till it touched) causing a lot of noise in the cabin. Had it refitted by milltek themselves and it was fine.

I'm not going back.

Yes I have. I've always used them for all my servicing. I've never had an issue with them, but my cars are always standard.

I cant comment on their quality of aftermarket stuff but their workshop always has lovely (well modified) cars in there!

I forgot to add that this was at AMD Essex - near the Ikea at Lakeside..

Yes AMD at Lakeside.
So that's 1-1 so far then......
Hopefully some more positives will come along!

If any of you guys are around surrey/south London then I highly recommend Tuningwerkes in south Croydon and Volks Autos in Sutton.
