First impressions are that they seem to have roughly the same amount (possible a touch more) of grip in the current damp conditions as my previous MPSS tyres, which i still rate as the best tyre I have used so far.

I wont know what the AD08R are really like until the weather dries up a bit.

Keep us posted on how they are in the wet, i.e. standing water? I can understand them being ok in the cold and damp once you have a little heat in them, but fear they would be bloody dangerous when hitting standing water at speed

Is the load rating high enough, especially given the lower speed rating? Standard is 92 and the higher Y rating....

The sidewalls are stiffer than most 92xl anyway. w speed rating is more than enough for 99.999999% of usage

im between trying mpss or a semi slick like ad08r or toyo888 for my next tyre.

with summer coming up semi slicks are very tempting !

The Michelin pilot sport cup 2 in 225/40/18 is the same price as those you've mentioned, and around £20 more a corner than the MPSS which is tempting me right now

Do you have any actual proof of this, rather than just your opinion based on some simple maths based on the weight of the car, not the load generated under extreme braking and cornering forces? Sidewall stiffness is irrelevant to the structural strength, which is given as a load and speed rating

Fitting sub standard tyres, i.e. tyres that are lesser rated than OE, is grounds for void insurance and/or prosecution in the event of an accident

The load rating of tyres is given as static weigh loads.

And the fastest I go is 70 so 168mph covers that fine.

Small update.

Grip is good. They do however seem a little less grippy than the MPSS from cold, but that is to be expected. They are much happier today in the slightly warmer weather. Once it gets a bit warmer they will be incredible.

They do have a tendency to slightly tramline. Very slightly, but noticeable on certain roads.

So much grip in the dry, hilarious amounts of fun.... these really are a step up on the PSS.

Id say once warmed up. They just feel fantastic when you push hard. I think overall they definitely suffer due to the stiff sidewall in terms of NVH over the PSS, which makes the ride harder.

But we all know... its about grip. Ill suffer the increase in noise as a trade off to silly amounts of grip
