Any hgv drivers on here?
« on: February 20, 2016, 02:38:59 am »
Just passed my class 2 hgv test  :happy2:

Are there any hgv drivers on here? Just after some advice.

3 of my uncles and my grandad all drive hgv's but they've all been at it for roughly 15 years or so and I just get "it's all changed since we started" if I try and ask them anything lol

Want to try and get 12 months experience in a class 2 job and then get in for my class 1 and get on working with them lot as at the moment they joking say I'm not a proper hgv driver  :signLOL:

Agencies are screaming for drivers. I got my cpc paid for by an agency with several offers of work. I planned on doing it on the odd weekend, just a haven't had chance.

I've got C and C + E, pretty sure I can drive both 1 & 2. Drive some pretty big trucks for work but I ought to send off for my tacho and start earning some extra coin!

I know a few. In fairness my father in law was doing it 25 years, had ten years out, and he always talks of how it has changed now he is back at it.
Not just the digital tacho, but the 'point and go' nature of trucks now.

Give me a shout if you need a tomtom truck
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Could be interested in one. I was having a look at navs the other night on eBay. How much are we talking?

Think I'm gonna end up signing up with a few local agencies. Would be nice to find somewhere permanent though.

I've had to do an initial CPC as I passed my car licence after 1997. I have my module 4 this Thursday.

I have just got my digi tacho card threw £32, just print the form off, fill it in and send it with postal order. Mine was back in 7 days.

Well worth getting in for some class 1 work. Two of my uncles are taking home anywhere between £2500-3000 a month which isn't bad going for a driving job, nice easy work  :happy2:

It's more than I take home.  A lot of time on the road dealing with numpties though lol.

Cpc just seems like a cash cow. It's very basic common sense stuff. A proportion of it was just lifted from the speed awareness course.

Employers could be mandated to provide guidelines and training but the government want to cash in and make everyone do cpc, in my opinion.
