Pre cat delete done today!
« on: February 20, 2016, 04:56:37 pm »
Hey chaps.

So after some deliberation I'm set on R-Teching mine after she's had a service and Mot in a couple of weeks. But thinking of first doing a pre cat delete. My one concern is when youtubing pre cat delete videos, some sound pretty much standard but others sound considerably more 'buzzy' which I'm not keen on. But just not sure if that's simply down to what camera/phone they've used!

What's your opinions? I don't mind a bit more 'grunt' but not 'buzz'... If that makes sense...

Cheers guys, love this forum for endless experience, guidance and wisdom!  :drinking:

Just makes it a little deeper, no buzzing noise. That will just be the camera mate.

Brilliant that's what I'm after in that case thanks guys. Now convinced my mechanic to do it next Tuesday along with a Millers nanodrive oil service.

No apparently not, and countless people have done it. Passes an MOT fine too.
It's there for the European market where their equivalent MOT test tests for cold start emissions but ours doesn't

Do any of you know if I'll need any tweaks to the ECU for this???

Nope you'll be absolutely fine.

Plenty of tweaking to get the best out of it when you get to R-TECH :)

Got the car back today after the pre cat delete and theres a surprising amount of difference, definitely a quicker turbo spool up and more turbo 'whoosh'.  But in no way does this, or the slightly deeper exhaust note sound chavvy. Not fully put it through its paces yet but after initial testing I certainly felt better acceleration. Of course the service with Millers Nano drive as opposed to OEM oil may have helped too... Anyway, well chuffed with the results.

My mechanic had a right mare getting that top bolt off though, but did manage with a breaker bar and was able to grease up and reuse all bolts and gasket.
Charged me £90  :happy2:

Ready for R-Tech now
