fans on full tilt - VAGCOM help
« on: February 29, 2016, 06:33:01 pm »
hi all,
wonder if you can help please.

Got a 2005 2.0 fsi gt, BOTH radiator fans are going to full tilt even when the car is cold and its cold outside. Tried turning off AC. No change. Car temp gauge reads ok.
Gonna scan with vagcom tomoz night for faults. My gut says there will be none that help.  Anyone got any pointers? What outputs should I be checking in vagcom to diagnose?

Thanks,

Andy

I've had this before when there was water in the fuse box under the bonnet. Dried it out and it was perfect.

I did a scan tonight and got this fault.
1 Fault Found:
16502 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62)
            P0118 - 002 - Signal too High - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0000
I cleared it and its didnt come back. The problem with fans on high persists.
I unplugged the cts but it didn't throw a fault? why is this?
Had a look in measuring blocks 131-135 but couldn't work out what the various temps. One of them was saying 96 even after the car had cooled down. any help appreciated before I fit a new CTS first.
