Black GTi, Fresh From The Body Shop
« on: February 27, 2016, 06:23:39 pm »
Good Evening.

Thought I would make a little thread about my MK5 Golf GTi that I have just bought,

I bought the car as a bit of a project after selling my Series 2 Escort RS Turbo & then My Impreza STi.

It will be my weekend toy as I work at a car sales place & have a choice of over 100 that I can choose from to go home in.

Anyway pics of the day I got it

As you can see it needs quite a bit of love & affection spending on it, But it has only had 1 former keeper, HPi clear & 89k on it.

Needs a bit of tidying up and looks like the cup holder is missing in the mirror

Had a MK5 Golf come in part ex at work over the weekend, It had carbon wrapped steering wheel inserts in it & since mine were a bit worn I decided to swap them over.

Looks a good project - sorry to read you sold a couple of iconic cars to buy it though. Still, the mk5 is good, so am sure you'll enjoy it!

With a just a little TLC, you'll uncover a decent car there - little tweeks like mk6 switches just help the car a bit. The rear tints are very dark - will you be keeping them?

I only sold the Escort & Impreza because I had taken them to a stage of completion I was happy with.

The Golf Is a nice car to drive & Only bought it as I was bored and wanted another car to mess with & spend a bit of time on.

I think the tints will be staying for now.

Pics of my Escort & Impreza

Back to the Golf.

When having the discs & Pads fitted it was discovered that both rear calipers were badly siezed so needed replacing, Tried new ones from TPS but at £150 each I decided against it.

So a call to Brakes international I managed to get 2 new (Not refurbished ones) for £160 the pair. Only down side is they were not Red so I had to paint them.
