I get around 25mpg at the moment doing an 8 mile trip to work twice a day. Hopefully it will improve when I replace the thermostats as the car is only ever at 70° atm. Then again I'm driving it like miss daisy because of that so it will probably stay the same lol

Thanks for all the replies, I think it's safe to say short journeys you will see a return of around 250miles per tank (full to 1/8), and longer journeys 300+

Interesting note is people who had Stage 1 (myself included on a previous GTI) never really showed any less miles per tank than standard.

I get around 30mpg at the mo.
Always fill up and note mileage then again and note mileage & litres, only had car a few months but not had any problems with codes doing it this way.

That's simply because you are always running at the optimum level for economy during day to day driving..... Only with your toe down will fuel economy be any worse than an equivalent non-mapped/standard car

As per other folks posts, I get roughly 280miles to a tank doing short journeys and around 100 more on longer journeys. Usually average about 35-36mpg on the motorway doing 70-80mph. One thing to check is draggy rear calipers which seems to be common issue (common on every VW I've owned in fact!).

I'm not as bad as I used to with the old right foot, I think the fact my bird drives the car 90% of the time will help aswell lol. Aslong as 250s the norm, I know the cars running ok

Annoys me when people say that filling up your tank causes an EML

It only exacerbates an existing issue which is one of a few things, such as the activated charcoal in the canister being 'full' and no longer able to absorb and hold the vapours ready to be consumed by the engine.

My car had a brand new canister 2 years ago, since then I have filled my car right to the brim every single time I have refuelled, and guess what....... No EML or faultcode

This 'fault' will always show itself after a refuel, and naturally the more you refuel, the more the canister needs to hold. Given the rate at which the TFSi consumes fuel and the location of the nearest Shell garage, sticking £20 or £30 a time in the car hoping to avoid an EML is not practical

So again, it doesn't cause the EML, if everything was hunky-dory you wouldn't get one!

Rant over!  :happy2: :signLOL:

I've never heard of this. I've overfilled my car, everytime I've filled up for 70,000 miles. When it clicks, I know that baby can take another 2-3 litres minimum.

I got 40mpg indicated over a 15 mile stretch once. That was being really gentle, 50mph in 6th. R-Tech Stage 1 K03.

I try not to worry about economy most of the time - it's a GTI. But every now and then I'll see what it'll do and there's no trouble getting into the high 30s.

It's much more fun getting into single figures.

Stage 2 mapped and manage around 400 miles to a tank (probably 80-90% motorway)

I've had 400 miles out of a tank on mine before but on the short journeys to the gym and back I normally see 300 to a tank.

It's weird, I used to get 40mpg from my old Focus ST2 on a run! The GTI is quite thirsty for a 2 litre.
