Did you see him test it? A used one that has been sitting getting no charge is probably dead also.

Yes VCDS will tell you what is up.
Could be a fuse, wiring, faulty door/bonnet/boot module so the car doesn't actually think it is locked
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

He needs to go into 46-convenience and open measuring blocks, it is there what tells you current status of the sensors and siren

Ok test update I liked in the fuse box in the car and there were a number of spaces left don't know what made me do it but I placed a fuse in the empty spaces and hey presto the siren worked but not properly which indicated the second hand siren was knackered .
I tried the old siren and that didn't work either so I bought a new one and it works the interior sensor is working to .
But I want to know if the alarm should be self arming with a delay if you forget to turn it on ??

It doesn't self arm, only if you have unlocked the car by mistake after arming it. It will then self lock and arm

It's the alarm unit, under front wing.

DO NOT buyt second hand......totally false economy!

I had exactly same three errors.
Bought new from TPS.....fitted....all working fine now!

Main reason I noticed it not working, but wanting it working, was due to enabling unlock / lock chirp :D
