Spark Plug Choice

Sorry I know plugs must have been covered a million times but...

Ok so my standard Edition 30 is going in for it's full annual service this week. I have always fitted the standard NGK Platinum plugs and had no issue's tbh!!

Just wondering if people recommend upgrading to the Iridium plug for a stock car? Also I am confused by the NGK part numbers/variations.

so the NGK plug finder site state's:

The standard plug is the:
PFR7S8EG-1675 - What I usually fit (OEM)

Iridium version is the:
IFR7X8G - 95820

Looking at the Awesome GTI site and other places including threads on this forum the more common Iridium plug is the:
NGK BKR7EIX

So what is the difference and are the Iridium version/s better on a stock car?

NGK BKR7EIX Iridium plugs.

Ebay are cheaper a lot cheaper as I bought a set. :happy2:

Use oem, or BKR7EIX, unless you have had bad experiences with them. Most of the time they work best. If you had a bunch of upgrades and tune with a very aggressive tune and much higher boost...I would suggest NGK PFR7B...they come with a 0.7mm (0.028") gap: http://www.hstuning.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_32&products_id=3688&vpath=30_31

You are welcome. Happy to hear it. They work great with the 3.3 M Ohm OE coils and they can handle high boost pressure should you go for more. They worked great with my K04 tuned to boost 26 to 28 psi. Never again had an issue once I switched to the NGK PFR7Bs.

They look like OEM double platinum (platinum tip + platinum ground pad) plugs to me?

I don't know why there's such a big thing about plugs in the US with gapping etc.  Over here we just take them out of the packet and shove them in the engine, with zero misfiring problems.  Even the OEM dealer supplied double platinum plugs are fine with Stage 2+ KO4s, out of the packet.  But the plug of choice here is the BKR7EIX.  Cheap and works well.
