Yet another car valuation - Edition 30
« on: March 11, 2016, 01:16:46 pm »
Hi all,

I'm thinking of selling my Edition 30.  It's a great car but I fancy a change and so I thought I'd try to get an idea of it's value.  I've had a look at all the usual places online and prices do seem to vary - I guess it just comes down to how much someone wants a car as to what they will pay.

Anyway, here is an overview of my car:

Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 30 230bhp.  Completely standard with full VW service history.

2007 car
42,500 miles
3-dr Diamond Black (Pearl)
6 speed DSG gearbox with "paddles" on steering wheel
Electric tilt/slide sunroof
Electric front windows
Tinted rear windows
Cruise control
Automatic rain-sensing wipers
Automatic, self-levelling Xenon headlights
Folding/heated mirrors, position memory when in reverse and puddle lights
Heated windscreen washer jets
Low washer fluid level warning light
Dual climate control, cold air-con, warm heaters :-)
Heated front seats
RNS-510 Full Sat Nav with DVD Player
6 disc changer
18" BBS originated 'Pescara' alloy wheels with 4 x Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres (lots of tread left)
Front central armrest
On Board Multifunction Computer (Highline version)

It has a Nokia bluetooth kit (works with my iPhone 5s) but I was going to replace this with an OEM VW Bluetooth box under the front seat with full RNS-510 integration.  I was also thinking about a re-map to 300bhp+, but to be honest I'd prefer to leave it completely standard, as I think it's a nice standard example.  I've always tried to run the car on Shell V-Power or Tesco 99 fuel.  Lovely condition inside and out.  Wheels are NOT kerbed.  No accident damage.

Service Overview

Over to you all...any thoughts on a value?  I'll add some photos at the weekend.   :happy2:

Photos as promised...

I've added some more photos to my Members Rides thread - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,85068.0.html

Any thoughts?  I was thinking around £11,500 ?  Basing that on condition, mileage and mainly spec...

that is a fantastic car in great condition with lovely extras.

If you are in no rush to sell then I would not drop below that price and if anything add £750 to the price

alternatively, get it mapped and keep it as it will feel a totally different car and will be a real weapon with the DSG. I am not sure how you will ever replace it given bang for buck

I would love to replace mine with something newer but not sure I would get £20k extra worth of fun and value out of anything else. they are still a great looking car

Looks a nice car - I don't understand why you'd want a map on it if your selling it?

Also it's only had one cam belt change in 9 yrs.

Just stick it up for sale at the price you think is right - the market will ultimately decide If it's right

Nice, same as mine!

To give you an idea, I paid £9K for mine in Sept 13 with 70K on it.   £11.5K I'm afraid is way too steep.  Closer to £10K is more like it.

Cheers for the input all.

If I keep the car I'm considering a remap.  But if I decide to sell I'll leave it as-is.

I may put up an ad soon...

I'm in the market for an ED30 at the moment. Yours looks a lovely example Jamie. I would definitely be interested if it's priced reasonably. Get that advert up matey!

Lovely car and great spec. It's difficult to price. I guess if someone wants a low mileage one badly enough you could get a really good price.

I'm looking to return to an Edition 30/Pirelli and that would be close to an ideal car (I'd just prefer something a little newer)

To show how prices have altered I bought my Pirelli when it was exactly 3 years old (late 2008 car) from a forum member here. I paid £14,000. It was a black 3 door in manual with pretty much every optional extra and on 32k.

Based on prices today that appears a bargain. Especially considering it had been modded very professionally with about 8k of parts! I could have bought the car with the mods stripper off for 12k but I loved the mods so much that 2k extra was a bargain for all the extra parts and work that had gone in to it.

I sold it exactly 2 years later to another forum member for 12k and it was only on 36k miles.

If I could buy it back now I would.

Lovely Ed30 there.
Very low miles too-which works heavily in your favour along with a desirable spec.
Shouldn't have trouble selling at that price in my opinion.

After looking at prices closely for a while, I'm selling my 2008 75k miles full VWSH, new MOT and recent VW serviced, ED30 DSG 3 Door for £9750 (National Trust car park sticker included, ha). I'm a "mature" owner, so that might help sell the car also, you never know, ha! Make of this information as you will, hopefully its helpful to gauge your own pricing strategy.

Make of this information as you will, but personally I would part out the RNS510, and sell it separately, as people rarely pay a premium for electronic upgrades.

Heres my advert, if anyone is interested.

Lovely car with great spec having the trump card being a sunroof. That's  one item you can't retrofit without a disaster. I'd say you'd get 11k privately.
