Retro fit front fogs
« on: March 11, 2016, 06:15:53 pm »
I have Jetta. The previous owner had front fogs install and has a switch in the ash tray to turn it off and on. Is there anyway that I wire the +ve wire through the existing rear fog switch behind the light switch. Or if I purchase another light switch that has the front fog option I can wire it up? I prefer the latter option.

You can get a new switch and run a wire from the switch to the cecm and then 2 wires from the fogs to the cecm and ground them and just  code them in.

Or if you dont want ro run to cecm, there is a method where you can use a relay but not sure how that's wired.

Ive done 2 fog retrofits using the cecm method and you will need a highline cecm module

Yeah that would be the relay method of wiring it but you would need a new light switch

Looks simple enough. 2 questions. Which relay do I need? And where do I get a relevant trigger wire that will fit in the light switch plug?

I made a fog light loom for another guy on the forum a while back. He never bothered having it in the end. If you want it let me know, it's gathering dust some where at the moment.

I'll try get some pictures Wednesday. Consists of relay, relay holder with fuse, necessary wires, 12v power, pick up point from the fog light (you'll need a headlight switch with fog light attachment) earth and the leads to run to the front fogs. All wired ready to go.

Also requires a trigger/repair wire which you can pick up from the dealers for a couple of £. Part number 000979009  :happy2:

Do the wires have the plugs to go into the bulb holders?

No they don't. I can't remember the bulbs type either but pretty sure I just bought some connectors for it from ebay
