Drivers door won't lock using key fob
« on: February 17, 2016, 07:23:07 pm »
Hi, I have a problem with my mk5 golf r32 where the drivers door won't lock using my key fob. It locks fine using the blade. If I lock using the key fob and open the door the alarm sounds.

Any help would be appreciated

Have a look at the wiring between the door and body as the wires may have broken

Yeah it could be that but I would check the wires first as might be a quick fix  :happy2:

Tried spare key which is the old one (the one I use all the time is new 12 months old) and it works fine with spare key lol

I feel the fault will return regardless of which FOB is used - door wiring would be my thoughts as the most likely issue.

I would be interested in an update after you've given the fault a chance to return.

I removed door gaiter to check wires and unplugged the loom. Put it back together,  used spare key and it worked. Like you said I think I've disturbed something

Right, thought I would update this. The problem returned so I thought I would try my luck and buy a new lock mechanism off eBay (bad move). Booked the car in with joe from Leominster vag tech to replace it and then found the door locked but wouldn't unlock lol. Luckily he knew a few tricks to unlock it and it eventually unlocked. I then knew I had to buy a new genuine one so £165 later for the new part joe fitted it and all is working again. Lesson learnt there haha.

Hi DeadMau5,

Can you elaborate on why it was a bad move to buy one of ebay, I've done the same and am planning to fit it next week.  What was wrong or the problem with the ebay one ?

I've bought one of these

any info gratefully received.
