2007 gti transmission oil

Just been to my mechanic today to get my gear box oil changed as it has just turned 50k on the clock. Never got done as he was struggling to source the oil. Apparently getting delivered tommorrow. He seems to believe the the oil in the manual is the same as the oil in the dsg box. Is this correct.
What oil would you guys recommend.
