Rear Badge

What are the best products to use to paint my rear badge on a ED30?

Want to do the backing in Tornado Red and the Badge gloss black.

I used halfords spray cans on mine...

Did you spray the backing underneath the badge black ? I'm not too worried about doing the badge itself just don't know how to go about doing the back in red.

yes, i bought plastic primer, the pearl black magic and the red, and of course, lacquer.
split the badge, rubbed down using fine wet and dry, painted several coats of primer, allowing time to dry between each.
then painted the relevant colour, several coats, finishing of with 1x coat of lacquer.
re-assembled the badge. This needed a little help, as the slots for badge were now slightly smaller due to the paint.

Ive had few over the years, remove the emblem and prep,undercoat,paint and lacquer the backing, ideally remove the whole mech as this makes the whole process a lot easier. If you are not to bothered thrm simply wrap the backing.....

Black on red with Mk5 3D emblem...



Crhome on red with Mk6 3D beveled emblem......

I had my badge done in black for a fiver from a vinyl car wrapper. Looks great and can be removed later on if you change your mind!

Plastidip works well also, plus if your not too keen on the outcome it comes off easy enough

Quick question if I may - I am in the process of spraying mine:
Did you sand the paint before applying the lacquer?
The instructions on the lacquer can say to do so but Google throws up conflicting advice

not on the last coat of paint prior to lacquer, light inbetween coats of paint, but not after the final coat of paint.
