Springs or Coilvers on 18x8 ET35 215/40/18 Fitment
« on: March 18, 2016, 12:55:11 pm »
I recently picked up some new wheels which have the following fitment - 18x8 ET35 with 215/40/18 tyres. I had previously been looking to lower the Golf when it was on the Monzas and had settled on H&R 30mm springs. I am just wondering now if I should stick with this option or look to go with coilovers instead. I want the car to have a good 'practical' stance but with it being my daily drive I still need it to be functional. I am also thinking going too low with the offset may cause problems. Does anybody have any experience with a similar fitment?

Heres a pic after fitment, its sitting a little lower now after its settled down again

Thanks

I've been wondering about this as I have the same fitment wheels as you. I've been looking at 30/35mm Eibach springs. The back on mine is already quite a bit lower than yours so I was wondering about rubbing issues?

The correct tyre for the GTI is 225/40/18 92Y. It won't make a huge difference, but having more rubber on the road is usually a good thing.
