mk5 blown engine?

been offerd a mk5 with the oil pick up blocked apparently causing engine to go? whats a good price to offer for the car its a 05 plate with full leathers 80k miles on the clock and 1 owner from new

Mate, just go get yourself a running one for around 3.5k to 4k and forget the headache.

+1 for the above unless it's a gift and you like a headache,cause you'll mostly likely not make money on it if that's your plan?

As been said above easier to get one that runs something like this , lot less hassle unless you got the other one for silly money and was going to do something different with it

by the time he's bought engine new t belt kit fitted in it will be closer to 3500 so better off no lt to bother imho as there are many runners for cheap.

I do understand what you're trying to say but cheap engines aren't cheap as they cost around 1500 then he'll need t belt water pump and then fitting. I'd say get a running motor unless op is paying £1500 for it. maximum price. even then is it worth the headache?.

Some high mileage axx go for as low as 750 think uou can get a running.bwa for around 1000

I think it depends on your DIY skills, could save a packet by doing it yourself, engine swap etc. Also what can be salvaged/sold off original engine?

I've not seen one running bwa for less than £1500 tbh.

oil pump failure salvageable parts  :thinking:

as said better to buy a running one rather than go through all that headache.

Another member bought a 2k one off salvage and he's now thinking a big mistake for what they are worth.
