Can you check CANBUS version with out VAG COM ???

Have tried a search but getting conflicting info.
Can i check what version CANBUS i have fitted to my 03/07 date golf by the sticker on it?

Most likely will need changing. You could tell by taking it out I guess.

Mine is registered 03/07 and needs changing.

Ok so I gave it it my best gymnastic impersonation today trying to find the canbus.

Nothing there. Not in the places advised on Google images.
Above pedals - no
Behind relay board - no
Behind foot rest - no
Behind cubby hole - no

Where else?

you will find the gateway connected with a red connector!

Turned out to be behind the relays in the cubby storage area. What a kunt to get at.

Also if you go into the module in VCDS before removing your old Canbus you should be able to read its part number. If it's removed already it's well worth updating to a 7N0... Canbus. You can then retrofit and mod you Golf to your hearts content.
