Turbo Question...
« on: March 25, 2016, 10:37:18 am »
I have previously owned an Evo FQ, and remember the dealer advising me to run the car on idle for a little while after a 'spirited' drive, in order to ensure that the turbo bearings were lubricated, prior to switching off.

Is this procedure necessary / advisable on the GTI? The Evo was a few years back, so I'd forgotten about that, until now (grey cells fading!).

Any thoughts??

As far as I am aware ( correct me if I am wrong knowledgable users) but it is advised as the turbo uses oil from the engine to cool down etc and by switching the car off immediately you cut off the oil supply which can lead to carbon build up and further problems in the long run, again I have read about this on the forum somewhere if I can find the link I'll paste it here
