Belfast newbie checking in....
« on: March 22, 2016, 11:51:53 pm »
Evening all from Belfast
Just joined the MK5 fraternity last week - upgraded from a Type R Civic to a 2005 Candy White GTI and loving it!
Have used a few of the excellent 'how to's' on here already so thanks for those - about to delve in to the realms of replacement head unit posts.
Had never heard of canbus before this week so my head is already a little frazzled....  :stupid:

Thanks guys!

@laral are you from this direction too? Seems ours are pretty similar mine is 05 88k.

Nothing too dramatic planned for it- so far I've been dead adventurous and changed the Gti badges to red and tinted the rear windows!

Another Belfast-er welcome to come by the house and get the canbus changed across any time. 20min job. I've got full VCDS which you can use as well to code the new headunit to the car if needed  :happy2:

Thanks for all the warm welcomes lads- still finding my feet here, new to this sort of thing so a little daunting!

@Rossimac that is a very kind offer which I may just take you up on, I'd like to replace the head unit but really wouldn't know where to start!

@r5gtt nothing major planned beyond simple cosmetic things, valance & skirts coded etc

Genuinely really pleased with it as it sits to be honest but a few little things wouldn't hurt!

I thought I loved the Type R but this is something else....
