TPS ?
« on: March 28, 2016, 01:07:53 pm »
Is TPS just for trade people, or can Joe Public use them (maybe with a little stretching of the truth, perhaps!)? If so, how? Any tips ?

Thnx

Some TPS are funny about non trade. If you are quizzed say you work at <insert local Body repair shop here> but this is for your personal car so will be a cash sale and they'll be fine  :happy2:

10% ? I get more like 50%

Yes but 50% only on selected items and 10% is more typical ?

Do you have to call up to check stock and for them to put it aside first, or just walk in?

Just walk in. They sometimes want your registration for your car... They fetch what you want and you pay if its not in stock my local TPS usually gets the part for the next day and I pay when I collect but some want the money upfront...

I've never had any problems they've just ordered what I ask them for no questions asked...  Ordered everything from replacement trim, MK6 switches, new car matts, screenwash ect  - Business is business at the end of the day and if some saddo wants a new set of £80 matts or spend £££ on chrome tipped switches they'd be mad to turn away custom!!!

There's 2 near me. One of them is funny and doesn't seem to want to sell anything to me and the other is fine.

Birmingham TPS don't sell to the public but you get the odd salesman who might and did. I've got an account but haven't used them as they seem to be ridiculously expensive even for basic stuff.

Anyone know how the Bournemouth / Poole one operates?

It is business, as commented, but seems some can be a bit huffy.

Wonder how much the GTI mats are there??

Update.....

Called my local TPS (Poole), and very helpful - no issue over not being in the trade. Collecting some items on Monday - incl some GTI mats, so just hope they are the right ones. They look black from the picture they sent me, but I thought they only came in Anthracite (charcoal grey)? Can anyone confirm pls?

Cheers
