Flexible pipe exhaust blowing
« on: April 12, 2016, 01:02:32 am »
Hi

This is my first post as I have recently just purchased my first Mark V Golf Gti. Absolute love the car. However, engine management light came on highlighting two faults and would appreciate any advice.

1) Fuel evaporation system
2) 02 sensor (due to flexi pipe exhaust system blowing aand possibly off setting the sensor due?) - I have found a place in Glasgow called C&C who said they can take off the exhaust, remove the flexi section and weld in a new one, price quoted is £140, seems a bit high to me, does it sound about right or do I have another cheaper option ?

Thanks for your help.

Usman

Hi Usman,

That's okay for removal supply and fit and I'd get them to gut out the pre cat whilst your there for the extra few quid as it will allow better breather and you will feel how responsive the car is afterwards  :happy2:

Thanks for your reply. I shall try and sneak in this extra job for the same bucks.

I'm not 100% but the emissions may have something to do with it so get the exhaust sorted out and the evap may clear itself.

If the flexi has over-flexed due to engine movement, get a dogbone mount insert in while the car's up (Powerflex etc).
