Long time lurker checking in
« on: March 30, 2016, 04:28:57 pm »
Hi all!

I'm a Golf MK5 TDi 4Motion owner for the last 10 months (am I allowed here without a GTi?) from Kent. I have previously owned 7 VW Golfs those being...

  • White F reg Mk2 1.3
  • Grey G reg Mk2 4wd Syncro (later upgraded with a GTi 8v engine and MFA)
  • Blue and Orange Mk2 crash repaired (converted from Petrol to Diesel... it got me around when money was tight)
  • Blue F reg Mk2 4wd Syncro (later upgarded with a GTi 16v engine and MFA) this wasn't as nice to drive as the 8v
  • Mystic Blue N reg Golf Mk3 2.9 VR6 Syncro (LHD)
  • Turquoise Q reg Golf Mk3 TDi (stolen recovered, not pretty, but super reliable and did me proud for 8 years!)
  • Silver 03 reg Golf Mk4 TDi 150

and now a Black 06 Golf Mk5 TDi 4Motion TDi (my 4th 4wd golf)

So I've done a few engine swaps previously and a bit of upgrading to my present car already (R32 Leather, Mk6 MFSW, RNS510). Doing R32 rear brakes and Brembo 18z front brakes soon. Have got some Audi Rotor alloys to put on tomorrow (18x7.5J ET51). Upgrades will come over the next 12 months in prep for a Darkside GTB turbo kit.

I look forward to getting to know some of you better  :drinking:

Welcome to the forum. Dervs are very welcome, even better if they're competing with GTIs in the power stakes... which it sounds like yours soon will be!

Potential for a serious motor with the 4mo too. Good thinking.

Maxitrol has a lovely derv, also with 6 pots and soon to be Darkside power.

Seen there's an even bigger option than the 2260 now... must be a consideration with all that grip you'll have...

Thank all

Here is the car after a quick clean and the wheels on. I think I would have preferred Gun Metal Grey instead of black rotors, I'm not sure about them, but I couldn't find them in the size I wanted, as I wanted to maintain correct offset. It took a while to find the car I wanted, and this one had sunroof, highline dash and bi-xenons. Not without it's problems, but turning into a nice car.
