TRIP to Nürburgring
« on: March 31, 2016, 12:57:53 pm »
Hi Guys

I would like to plan a Trip to the Nürburgring for next summer for my friends and I.
We should have 5-6 cars going...
Anyone wishing to join, may do so at your own risk...lol...  :driver:

We would be traveling from Northern Ireland... :drinking:

I would like to ask for anyone who has done the trip for any helpful info you could pass on to us.

Boats, trains, hotels, places to visit , places to eat

Also what EU laws do we need to apply to road/car safety ?

Thanks in advance ! :congrats:

Neil

In terms of driving in Germany, you'll need your V5, proof of insurance, passport and obviously your driving license. You'll also need a high viz vest, warning triangle and beam deflectors. You'll need a GB/IRL sticker if your license plate doesn't have the blue EU tab on it too.

We our thinking about end of May, leaving Thursday 25th May 2017 and return Monday 29th-Tuesday 30th.
Just depending what way the boat times work out.

How long is required to enjoy the pleasure of a great trip ?

I noticed, we need to check that the Nordschleife will be available on those dates .!

Found this @monte  !
Well I budgeted £1000 for everything.
That was for Fuel, Ferry from Hull-->Rotterdam and back, Ringside Hotel, Laps around ring, Beer, Food (oh those steaks)  everything!
I did spend the lot but it was well worth it  :notworthy:
I will be going on the next trip without a doubt. Again I will expect to spend a grand.

It can be done cheaper but it depends where you live really. You can get the chunnel, or the ferry from dover to calais (probably the cheapest option) but you will have a longer drive and more fuel costs getting to Nurburg.

I live an hour from Hull and Nurburg is only 3hrs from Rotterdam, so there is less fuel and driving, but the Ferry is dearer. Although the P&O Ferry to Rotterdam is like a mini cruise, and is the perfect way to start and end a Ring trip.

I will be going Hull-->Rotterdam again. Its Great.

I also just noticed this was back in 2010  :rolleye: So I'm sure things may have changed slighly.
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Have a good read of Dale's site 'Bridge to Gantry'. One thing that seems apparent is the german police are not standing for yobbos hooning around the surrounding areas and make sure you have all your documents. There has even been whispers about having your modifications declared and that the German police have access to all UK databases!!!

A lot of the cars on the ring are modified so I wouldn't worry to much.
Just don't go there driving like a Clown and all should be good.

Id love to go though

I'm going the week before. This will be my 10th trip. Food and accommodation are really reasonable in the area. You can get a BnB for approx 35 euros a night. A meal out between 15-20 Euros. The expense comes from the amount of laps you do!

I found this a really useful resource. One of the videos that my mates put together of the trip in 2014 is hosted on the site under 'trip reports'!
